alright, so I’m finally getting around to posting about my last show. Sorry it’s taken me so long.
I decided to keep things low, I hadn’t been able to ride him much (although my friend and I did see how high Rudy could free jump.. that’ll be another post whenever I get the chance to measure the height of the jump). Rudy was alright warming up. I put on my big spurs because he was being really lazy, and then he decided that it would be fun to try to take off and gallop around the field (although he didn’t do anything more than get really strong). He was great for my first class (2’), and we made it to the jump off. I went off course so I was out of that one, which wasn’t a huge deal. It was my fault and he was going perfect so I figured we’d get it in the next round. The next round was going well until Rudy dumped me. Watching the video back (which I’ll show you guys soon), I still have no idea what happened. He just decided to go the other way and I wasn’t expecting it all. I kinda ended up rolling and getting to my feet while still having a hold on the reins. I got back on and trotted/cantered him around that spot and then went and rode him out in the field for a little bit. He was spooky and stuff afterwards for no reason.
I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to show 2’3” just because the jumps were higher and I was hurting pretty good (I hit my shoulder/neck then my head) but I did the 2’3” warmup and he was good. Went in for our first class and he was perfect, which honestly surprised me a bit. We went clean and I went in to do the jump off (which was the same as the first one in 2’) and I screwed it up on the same jump again. I decided to scratch my last class because my brain was just fried and I wanted to end on a good note.
It wasn’t our finest show, I really don’t know what happened, but I’m hoping to redeem myself this weekend.
it’s way too late and I’m way too tired to do a complete rundown of the show today, so I’ll do that tomorrow.
I did fall off though. I thought I was going to stay on and ended up just bailing when it was obvious I wasn’t going to be able to stay on. I ended up hitting my shoulder and head, so I’ve got a lovely head ache and hopefully no concussion, though I don’t think so. I didn’t hit it that hard.
Oh man, I haven’t ridden in over a week. It’s either been really gross outside or I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to ride him. We went western today and he was really good. Lots of trotting and working on lengthening and shortening his stride. I didn’t get to do a lot of cantering because the ground was still a little wet and slippery. He was a good boy though and I was very proud of how he behaved after having so much time off!
I’ve got a jumper show monday afternoon, so you’ll definitely get a post either that night or the next day about how it went. :)
Rudy has been good. It’s been raining lately and I’ve been super busy, so I haven’t been able to do much with him. My queue ran out and I don’t have any recent pictures to give you guys, but hopefully I will soon!
